Re: :devil:now this is a truck

Looks cool and all. But frankly, it kinda scares me to think that that set up is out on the road. But I can appreciate the work involved, and am very grateful to the owner for his service.

Re: :devil:now this is a truck

that just kinda seems unsafe...
he could have done the frame lift and just gone with like 4 inches instead of 12 and it wouldnt have looked so scary.

There is no way that truck is "street legal" no matter what state you are from.

Agreed. 12 inch drop spring hangers? scary. 6 inch body lift? bad idea. I wouldn't inspect it, way too much liability.

No kidding, that's scary. Stacy David did something like that on SGT Rock, but it was triangulated boxed steel. This truck was much better on 12" of spring lift, heck it was still a 4x4 then. Notice the front driveshaft left the project unmentioned at some point?

I did notice that too. Wondered if it was just not built yet or something.

Re: :devil:now this is a truck

The front output shaft of the transfer case is (naturally) much closer to the front of the truck. After a certain amount of lift the angles are too extreme. I'm pretty sure he's past that point.

Click through these pictures.

Sgt Rock

That's how to drop spring perches the right way. The ladder model is insanely unsafe.

Re: :devil:now this is a truck

I don't mean to hack on the guy's initiative and ingenuity, but you can't go for extremes and ignore the norm unless you're a mechanical engineer and know how to go one better. Being able to weld doesn't qualify.

Just to put things into perspective, suppose you're going down the road and he's behind you. The car is front of you slams on the brakes to panic stop but doesn't have any brake lights. You're reaction time will be 1.5 to 2 seconds late and so will his. Do you think all those welds will hold up? Not a chance.

Whether you want to take your truck up or down, use the best off-the-shelf parts available and go overkill. This guy went sky-high, consequences be damned. Not that he's an evil dude, just ill-informed.
