Have I found a 4x4 Shortbox Highlander?

I'm looking at a 72 4x4 that has the blue plaid interior. On the SPID, I see:

148210 WHITE/DK BLUE/WHITE
161010 BLUE CLOTH CUSTOM T

Other options of note: AC, locking hubs, 3.73 gears w/POSI, Tach, Super Cport Cheyenne, PS, PB, tinted glass

A couple I don't know what they mean:

K5 "Manual Throttle"
F5 "Front and Rear Shoc"

It needs work, but the bigger questions are (1) "Is it a Highlander" and (2) "Is a 4x4 Shortbox Highlander a 'Big Deal'"? He's asking $4500, and it looks complete and restorable.

Re: Have I found a 4x4 Shortbox Highlander?

Sorry, don't have them yet. Before I drive out there, I'm trying to determine if a Highlander shortbox 4x4 is a big deal, as I was actually looking for Grande Sierras, but if this is something special, I'll make the drive.

Re: Have I found a 4x4 Shortbox Highlander?

If it's that flat black one with blue interior on CL....then no, it's not a Highlander. I thought the same thing, but somebody on here corrected me. The Highlander package was only available on the Custom Deluxe trucks, not the Cheyenne. The Highlanders came with Parchment seats with the plaid inserts, Parchment door panels, visors, headliner, and seat belts too. Nonetheless, with it being a 4x4 SWB Cheyenne- it's still a nice, high-option truck.

The white/dk blue/white is the outside color.
Manual throttle is just like it sounds. It would set your rpms higher to run a winch, pto, or something similar.

Yup, that's the one. So what's the "161010 BLUE CLOTH CUSTOM T", someone just ordered plaid cloth as a custom order?

Re: Have I found a 4x4 Shortbox Highlander?

No, the truck you are looking at is a Cheyenne Super. The plaid you are probably talking about is suppose to be Houndstooth. I remember from the pics of it a week or so ago on here, it appeared to have the highlander plaid seat in it, but that could have been changed out with another seat over the years. Cheyenne Super Sport is a Cheyenne Super which would have gotten houndstooth inserts which the code you are referring too means it would have had. If it was a bucket seat vehicle it would have had blue vinyl buckets. Trevor

Re: Have I found a 4x4 Shortbox Highlander?

To me, a Cheyenne Super swb 4x4 is one of the collector trucks to be picked up and I think would be better than finding a highlander, but that's my opinion. If it's legit, it would be a pretty good deal for around here anyways, but you California,Oregon, and Washington have the market on 4x4's out your way. Trevor
