Question - 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton

Are six-lug and eight lug axles interchangable? What about the front?

Other "major" consideration to convert a '67 3/4 ton to 'XX 1/2 ton, 6-lug?

If there's been a thread in the past maybe someone knows the title, or can post a link?

Thanks,
John

Re: Question - 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton

The easiest way to do what you want is to find a 1/2 ton donor and swap the rearend and front cradle with suspension into your 3/4 ton frame.

If you get a '71 or '72 will have 5 lug wheels with disc brakes on the front.

There are other ways of doing it of course, but I have found this easiest.

Re: Question - 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton

Thanks Danny,

So other than the suspension, 1/2 and 3/4 ton frames are the same?

Re: Question - 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton

The 3/4 ton and 1/2 ton frames are basically the same with a few differences.

The rear cab mounts on a 3/4 ton frame are lower to allow for a thicker rubber mount to allow for a smoother ride in the cab.

The 3/4 ton frame has extra bracing at the cross-member where the trailing arms mount and the trailing arms are stronger because the have extra plates on them.

I am sure some one will chime in with more informations.

Also the '67 frame does not have the dimple for the steering box.
