SM465 what kind of oil and how much

what kind of grade should i use on my SM465 4 Speed? and how much?

80w90 conventional or 75w90 synthetic. Not sure on the amount, I just pump it from a bucket until it's full.

That's right. When the gear oil starts to come out from the fill hole screw the plug back end.

yup, my factory manual doesn't specify an amount, just to add until level is at filler hole.

One of my manuals didnt specify an ammount and the other said 4 quarts. I also found 4 quarts on the net... I put 5 in and it wasnt quite to the filler whole. I tried to get it as level as possible with little effort though so that may have been the reason...

I noticed less noise and much smoother shifting when I put Mobile 1 75w90 in. The stuff that came out that the PO had used looked like it might have been original so who knows if the improved performance is from the full synthetic or just new oil.

i put Mobilelube 75w90 in its full synthetic i got it cheap at work
