Re: what spindles will work

most pop. is prolly either drop spindle or 71 72 spindle

you can do 73-87 and even later than that but dunno whats involved

73-87 takes exactly the same thing to install as 71-72 does, new ball joints and steering linkage. There is no reason to seek out 71-72 stuff over the later parts.

Re: what spindles will work

Texas FF is right, you can use the parts from a 73-87. Brakes are something you really don't want to get wrong... changing to discs involves other things besides just the spindles/disc/calipers. If you go the junkyard route, get the whole system components.
You might be better off saving up for a kit (at least see what the kit includes to give you an idea of the parts necessary).

You might consider a dropped spindle and drop the front a couple inches while your at it.

You can check these guys out (under disc conversion).

Re: what spindles will work

I just got done moving the entire front end from an 81 to a 68. While I was at it, I also used 2 1/2 inch drop spindles from Brothers. It all went together well with a few "tweeks". I'm sure that it would be the same for a 67. I tore the 68 down to bare front frame and moved everything.
1. You have to enlarge a few holes and add two more for the 81 crossmember. Also found that my 68 frame was 1/4 inch wider than the 81, so I had to tap crossmember into place with a large hammer. This could have been a slightly bent frame.
2. I had to do some minor grinding of the outside part of the spindle that holds the caliper. It was just touching the inner rim of an aluminum wheel. Not much more than grinding off the casting marks.
3. Because of the drop spindle effectively raises the caliper location, I had to do a little grinding of the caliper where the solid brake line comes up through a slot so the brake line can clear the upper ball joint nut/cotter pin.
4. The toe-in in the new frame was WAY off, but could be adjusted back.
