Where is your fuel pump located? I sounds like the fuel is siphoning back into the tank when the truck sets for very long.

I would guess one or all of your rubber lines is old and or rotted. That would let it pull air into the line and loose its pumping ability.
New rubber lines and new clamps might fix it.

Front, back, middle? There is a lot of frame there. I would locate it as close to the tank as possible.

If you ran it out of gas and left the electric pump running, you could have easily ruined the inside of the pump. Electric pumps are cooled/lubricated by the fuel flowing through them.

Another thought would be to put a check valve in the line behind the fuel pump to prevent fuel from flowing back to the tank. These can be restrictive, so you may want to get a large one and use some fittings to step the size back down to 3/8 or whatever size fuel line you are using.

Re: dose not get gas when i go to start it

If I'm not mistaken, I had an elec fuel pump inline that had a built in device to prevent backflow as part of its design. Also, it seems that the vacuum created between the sending unit "dipstick" being immersed and the fuel pump should cause the gas to be stagnant. Think of it like a straw. If you suck the water through it and keep it in your mouth, the water will stay in the straw. Same principle. Also, running the pump dry would toast the seal inside because of the fuel regulating the temp in the pump like the previous post said and cause it to not hold back the fuel. Not sure where it would get the air in the line to cause it to siphon though, something in the line/tank would have to introduce air to start the vacuum process in the other direction generate a vacuum . But then again, I'm no scientist, just a guess. I'm curious to see how this one comes out. Good luck
