Door pillar patch?

I'm looking at a nice '70 K10 original driver, rust is not bad at all and in the usual places. Patch panels are available for most of it and within my abilities to fix. I'm going to look again much more carefully before deciding. The one area that concerned me was the door pillar between the passenger front door and rear door. The inside facing portion down near the floor is gone completely up a couple inches. It looks like a burb-only piece. Does anybody know of something that can be adapted there, or is it fabrication only? Thanks
