Throwing PS belt.
Well guys, some of you might remember I had issues with my alternator belt coming off but I fixed that with an aftermarket bracket. I also fixed the gas and installed my stall converter. Everything was running fine. But now all of a sudden I've started throwing my pw steering belt............
I don't get it. I've never had that problem. And so far it only happens when I'm rolling and turn it until it locks (stops). When I started it in the garage I turned it back and forth right to left (lock to lock) and nothing happens. Yet I drove it down the road went to turn around and the dang thing chirped and the belt came off. I can't figure it out. When I have my son turn the wheel so I can see why it's doing it the dang thing wont throw it. What do you thing?

Re: Throwing PS belt.
If it chirps prior to being thrown, the power steering pump is locking up at full turn.
How is the alignment? Last edited by gchemist; 03-10-2010 at 01:12 AM. |

Re: Throwing PS belt.
I had it aligned at NTB a few month ago. Maybe I'll take it back. I pay for the 3 year plan. But that doesn't really fit because it wont do it sitting still.

I would not trust NTB to align your truck. I only take my vehicles to a place on Congress and Oltorf. They aligned my truck perfect. Runs straight as an arrow. They even added a little for performance driving. Besides, some shops won't even touch my truck. Shops who would try, couldn't get it up on their lift!! The a-arms are too low. |

Re: Throwing PS belt.
Make sure your crank pulley bolts are tight too. I just threw my p/s belt a couple of weeks ago and after looking closer, noticed my pulley wobbling a little. Two of the three small bolts had backed out. All that was holding it on was the one small bolt and the larger center bolt and they had begun to loosen. Probably not your problem, but one thing you could check.

Re: Throwing PS belt.
Well, as for the alignment, they are off a little. But they've been like that for a while. I've got around 3000+ miles on it and it just started doing this.
