coilover/ride height help please
i want to run a coil over rear for my truck, with a comp eng antiroll bar for added stability. so heres where im stuck. im not sure what coilover/spring rate to order, dont know how to weigh the truck since i only have pieces of it haha, dont know my ride height.
i dont have my wheel tire combo, although they have been chosen(funds). at which point do i NEED the wheels/tires? so my questions are.... determining final ride height? whats good for a street/strip truck? what are others sittin at? determining coilover/spring rate? can i hold off on wheel tire purchase? or should i get them asap? if more info is needed let me know and ill supply what i can. Thanks Guys! Kyle. |

Re: coilover/ride height help please
You need to know which spring size you are running first which depends on which coilover you are running. The coilover manufacture should be able to provide a recommendation.
What kind of truck is it? Any changes to the rear that would change the weight? Its probably around 1800 lbs. Don't expect to get the spring to be correct the first time. Unless someone chimes in with some past experience. Your better off with a slightly lighter spring and a heavier sway bar. The spring rate is based on the weight, angle of the coilover. Ride height depends on what you are doing with the truck, still hauling stuff?

Re: coilover/ride height help please
nope, trailered to the track and short cruises around town. street legal but not a daily driver.
its a 69 shortbox. will have late model stepside on it. the rear ends got custom trailing arms(the write up from nuke1) and then the fab 9" and 12" disc brakes(not all of this is done yet). coils will be mounted 90* straight up and down. (if ive read right.....) Last edited by noonzor; 03-11-2010 at 03:33 AM. Reason: change to NOT a daily driver |

Re: coilover/ride height help please
Super73 and a few other guys in the racing section have rear coilovers with some miles on them so they may be able to help with a spring. I am going to start with a 450 lb 7" QA1 spring, which should be close.
