did the th400 metric trannies have a lockup verter
i need to know whether or not all the th400 metris=c trannies have a lockup converter or not and how to tell if they do or dont.

I dont know of any 400 turbos with lock up converter. some of the 350 turbos did have a lock up (350C)....crazyL

ok i was asking because i know a lot of the metric 350's had a lockup verter and a friend was asking about a 400 hes going to use in his chevy.thank u

Never heard of a metric 350 or 400....the 200 was refered to as a metric though.
If it actually has a desicnation od C after the name, then it is in fack a lock up tranny... But I'm with crazy Al on this...never heard of a lock up 400. lock up isn't all ppl make it out to be. 200 RPM drop is not much. Just enough to hear and to take away the torque. |

i dont too much care for the lockup myself but the pan says metric on it and the tranny is from an 82 i believe i was just asking for a buddy

metric or not
I'm with the others, I've never heard of a metric 350 or 400, if it says metric on the pan then it's probably a 200 or a 2004R. Myself i don't mind the lockup, course I have mine fixed so I can shut it off if I want and then for road driving kick it back on, cause when a lockup up convertor is unlocked they generate imense heat and fast. i suppose all you Chevy guys will hate me when you find out that as my name says 86K10 is powered by a 7.5L
Oldsmobile. Hey at least it's GM. And it was just an experiment I've always wanted to try. It worked out quite well, now that it has been changed from 3:08 to 4:10 gears and a 69 C20 rear axle with detroit locker, it's a regular powerhouse and still only runs 2200 RPM at 75MPH. |

I am running a 700r4 without the lockup in my 68. I am not sure of the rear end gears but it works great.

I just looked at several transmission sites on the internet. They all list T-350s w/ lockup and without lockups, but none mention lockup at all for the 400s. Judging from that, my bet would be that there are not any T-400 lockup transmissions.

Ive often wondered if a switch-pitch pump/front support could be modified to work a lock-up convertor.

If memory serves, you need a special verter to run switch pitch.
