either that or beating all the tread off with a hammer.

It appears the back left tire still needs a little more tread takin off with the hammer.

Darkfox1...congrats! It looks sweet. I know the feeling on waiting for a drivetrain. It will be the end of the year before I have the money saved to buy that ZZ502!! Is that what you decided to go with? Sit back and have a beer and enjoy the chassis work....

heh, thanks, I dunno bout that engine yet, if I were to go crate the ZZ502 would be what I'd get, but I just dunno yet, the motor mounts are the only things that need to be changed for that right?

heh, now that this is done I have 2 things to do thats gonna keep me from getting an engine any time soon.. 1. find a parts truck with a good bed floor (yea right) and work on my daily driver, or decide to get rid of it.

I'd really like a 2000 Z71 Xtended cab short bed 1500.. I think they go for about 20 tho. I might be able to do that in a year or so.. luck being on my side (on my side? ha!)

As far as getting the big block in there all you would need to do is find stands. There are a lot of other things like PS pump brackets, alt and ac brackets etc.

I have been told the BB will sit on the 350 stands, but if you run headers they may need trimmed a little...

If you do go BB you will want to find 72 BB towers as the 67-71 towers I have learned use a much more expensive mount and are tougher to install. Expect to spend about $100 for 72 BB towers.

It sucks waiting to work on them I know. I have been sandblasting my cab and doing fun body work while I'm broke. Keep us posted on the engine combo you decide on.

I dont trust myself with the body work.. ima have all that done, the cab rust removal is relativley low.. rocker panels and cab corners are fine, only thing that needs attention really is the firewall area up top where the wires sit, and around the bottom where those pull open vents are.. seems I have some mulch in there heh, I'll need to have em cut out and replaced I imagine.

hrmm, well for the pumps and all, I was going to use some of those shiny adjustable mounts that you see at like.. ALL the car shows heh, they work kinda like the adjustable panhard bar, so its easier to get the belts tight.

can you get the BB mounts out of catalogs? I've seen some in the ECE catalog, but dont know off hand if they are 67-71 or 67-72 knowing ECE, they probablly re-designed them for the better

I think you can buy the 67-71 stands from vendors like Chevy Duty, but I have not seen the 72 stands. You have the 350 stands there.

I am going to get the body work started and most likely have an expert finish it up so I have confidence it is smooth and ready for paint.

It is amazing how dirty the frames get just sitting in the garage isn't it?

dust, pollen, anything else that gets thrown up in the air in the shop up there.. it all lands on the frame.. does it really look that bad? I dont want to spray it off cos I have rust phobia.. I haven't finished painting all my bolts and stuff yet.

ya we talked about doing some body work ourselves, I'm sort of iffy on that.. I mean if I cut something off I shouldn't.. and I gotta look for another cab.. that'll be a huge pain.

ya its going to be a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNG time before I get to the body, probablly a few years, unless my finances change and/or I win the lotto :p
