Re: interchangeable doors?

you have to use the interior panels that work with the door tho the earlier years were different than the newer ones 73-80 81-87 /91)

To break that down even further, the 73-76 panels are much smaller.

Re: interchangeable doors?

When Chevy changed the pickup body style for 88 they kept the C/K. The blazer and suburban went to R for 2wd and V for 4wd from 88-91...

Did I read that right? 91 (square) power doors will not fit properly on a 79 cre

Here's the deal: 77-91 doors all interchange. NOW, if you have a 77-80, you can swap your existing door panels and the interior door handle into a newer (81+) door and be just fine. Or you can use the newer panels/interior door handle on the 77-80 trucks if that's what you want to do.

On the outside, no...they will bolt up. The inside components and interior portion of the shell are. If you run 73-76 doors, you need the matching guts and door panels.

Okay, so what your saying is 73-76 doors, the metal shells, they are all the same to...??? what ending year?

and also 73-76 doors guts (window cranks, window channels exc..) will not work on the newer doors..... so what that being said, i cannot convert a newer door (ending year?) to crank window by simply swapping "guts" /w/ my 74? have I understood that correctly?

Re: interchangeable doors?

73-76 shellls are different than 77-91 shells...period. They look the same on the OUTSIDE, and will bolt up the same, it is the guts that are different and the inside where the door panel sits that is different...along with the door panels too.

you cannot put 73-76 guts in a 77+ door, and you can't put 77+ guts in a 73-76 door. The window regulators are different, window channels, etc are all different and non-interchangable without modifications.

Re: interchangeable doors?

ok. i guess im not explaining my self...

if i take a complete working 1977+ door, bolt it up on my 1974, will it close properly, seal properly????

I now understand the "guts" thing. Parts of doors of different years are not interchangeable; thank you.

THANKS!!!

If the doors that you are looking at are power, MAKE SURE you get the crossover harness and relay box. It's going to be real tough to make them work without it This is what it looks like:
