led bulbs anyone using them?

i was wondering if anyone is using led bulbs in thier trucks taillights, marker lights and how they worked for you. I dont see spending 100 bucks or more on a led coversion for the rear so i was wondering if just led bulbs do a pretty good job

Re: led bulbs anyone using them?

I have led bulbs in my front side markers and rear side markers. I bought my bulbs off of ebay. They have five leds in them one right in the center and four on the outside edges. There bright as hell no complaints at all and a lot cheaper then buying them at a local parts store. Best thing for them to look good is get all new lenses thats why i havent done my front turn signal yet.

Re: led bulbs anyone using them?

I've got them in my tails. I bought the cheapies that AutoZone sells. If you can, get them from an online LED seller because mine shine in one direction. The ones online have LEDs around the outside of them and the cheapies in the stores don't. But they do work great.

Re: led bulbs anyone using them?

I've had the cheapies in my tail lights. I ran them for a couple days and took them out. They weren't very bright at all and just looked like a little dot inside my tail light.

Re: led bulbs anyone using them?

When I get around to it was thinking of these for my cab clearance lights and for the marker lights on the flatbed.

Still researching the options but these are on top of the list so far.:

I'm so jealous of your 1-ton. I wish I had cab clearance lights.

Re: led bulbs anyone using them?

There isn't a halogen/incandescent bulb on my truck except for my dome light/courtesy light. All my marker lights and blinkers are LED's, my tail lights and reverse lights are LED's, and my headlights are HID's.

And they work GREAT.

Re: led bulbs anyone using them?

Ok, I'll be the test market on this one!

While working in the shop tonight and being as curious too on how they would work, I went ahead and ordered the WLED-x5 bulbs for the clearance lights on the C-30 tonight.

From doing some reading I chose the 'natural white'. Figure the amber lenses will take care of the color and if you do go to the 'cool white', which leans to blue/purple, well it might not look right. (blue/purple and amber/yellow=green?!)

Figure by this week-end it will add a lighter moment to the harder work I have to do on the old truck while cleaning up the area behind where the gauges install, sorting the wiring, plumbing the right oil sender in and hopefully getting a gauge cluster reinstalled.

I did drive in the dark last week for an errand and it already is like a frigging Christmas tree on wheels with all the marker lights plus the clearance lights illuminated. These LED's ought to get the old satellites in the sky looking down at the truck at night if they work as they should!

Pics to come when it happens.
Mark

Re: led bulbs anyone using them?

those wled-x5 are the same style ones i have in my truck they are really bright. I plan on using them for my gauges also and upgrade every bulb to led in my truck minus headlights.
