What is this thing on top of the engine?
In this picture, what is the thing on top of the engine that looks like a big alternator, but has no belt?
Is it an AIR pump? Sorry, I'm from Canada, so I've never seen a Kalifornia-equipped truck.

Anyway, when I was restoring my 427 car, I actually found a set of NOS air cleaner cover emblems; they're really rare, because they're embossed, and of course, limited to Canadian cars. I should have know better than ordering them from a guy in Quebec, because when they arrived they were "427 Flame Jet" I guess that's Astro Jet in French! Who knew they localized air cleaner decals into the local language...

actually, a complete AIR setup like pictured is quite a rare bird. those setups were one of the first things taken off and pitched.
