Is this needed?

I'm getting ready to repair my doors. Inner and then re-skin. The part in the pic below is rusted to hell on mine. It's the part that goes up to where the hinges attach. I was wondering if I could cut it off or do I need to replace it? If I need to replace it, can I buy one or do I have to fab one? Thanks for the help!

Re: Is this needed?

I would just fab one up. Probably there for a reason.

Re: Is this needed?

I would definatly replace it, it looks like it helps reinforce the hinge area. It doesnt look like it would take much to put a new piece in there.

Re: Is this needed?

yeah thats a hinge support reuse it or fab somethin up. if thats not there the door will eventually sag and crack around the hinge mount. it looks like that one is still useable, just drill out the spotwelds and clean it up
