Re: "Cab-Thru"

What's a "Cab-Thru"? Thought I knew most all the truck terms by now.

Re: "Cab-Thru"

I think a he's talking about where they cut the back of the cab like on an ambulance so they can get in the box in the back...like a walk-thru

Re: "Cab-Thru"

Chuck I will guess that he is talking about a blow through sub box. I haven't seen one since my stereo competition days.

Re: "Cab-Thru"

Cab thru? That's a new one....always called 'e, walk-thrus....
When ya mount a canopy permanetly and cut the back of the cab/bed and seal 'er all up so you essentially have a Blazer.....
Had an old Nissian Minitruck like that...haha.

If it's a stereo "thing"....seems like a shame to cut a truck just for subs...

Re: "Cab-Thru"

ummm....i think he means when you cut a rectangular hole in the front bed wall and cut the same size hole through, evenwith the first, through the back cab wall. then you build a box to fit pefectly in the hole and push it all the way through to the insde of the cab. seal it all wth whatever you prefer, then install your music. ill find some pics of my old stuff and post them soon as i can. it simple, but i wouldnt cut any of my trucks up like that anymore. hard to sell once you cut it, even f you leave the box.

Re: "Cab-Thru"

My buddy had a 90 reg cab short box with a cab-thru with 4 15' subs,I don't have any pics of it but it hit 159 decibals in a compition. He had a toneau cover and had fiberglassed the space inbetween box and cab.It sounded great good idea if you are never planning to sell.

Re: "Cab-Thru"

I havent seen a blow through truck in a long time, a real blow through that is. where the box is in the bed and it is ported in to the cab with pvc pipe. filling a 6" or two 6" holes is easier that a giant rectangle........but if you want to do a cut through the hole in the back of the cab doesnt have to be as big as the box. you can put the box in the bed and narrow the box down going the cab, you just need to plan the design out very well.

damn, i never thought to use pvc piping. wish i woulda known this 6 years ago when i hacked up my mazda cab and bed. then i coulda built a bandpass box and really had it banging. the 4 clarion aluminum 10's did damn good though.lightbulbs going on and off here in my head now to use some stuff i just thought i wouldnt fit and sound good, but i have already. thanks

Re: "Cab-Thru"

yeah you can use whatever size of pipe, i helped build a truck years ago in a s-10 we put 3 JL 12w6 in the bed and built the box just like a bandpass box kinda, but the opening of the box was if i remember right 3' w and 6" h that was cut into the back of the cab and we used this waterproof rubber that you could strech and wraped it from the inside of the cab to the inside of the bed, the box was bolted tight to the front of the bed and there was a amp rack built on the inside with the hole cut out for the box. the rubber acted like a seal for the box. the rubber was a cool idea cause you didnt need to worrie about it cracking anything since the bed is tight to the frame and the cab isnt, it had a great sound too.......
