Question Swapping front clips.

A few questions. On swapping to a 73-80 front clip from a 81-87 style. Will the 73-80 wiring harness plug into the block on the firewall just fine or will I have to mod my 81-87 wiring harness to work with the single head light?

I understand the core support should bolt right up to the frame but I need the early style body mounts?

And what is the difference in the hinges? If it is too involed I may just end up going with a lift off fiberglass hood.

Re: Swapping front clips.

What will it take for the wiring harness is what I mostly need to know. Will I have to cut up a 73-80 harness and splice it into my later wiring harness? Or will the old style harness just plug right into the block on my firewall?

And what is ment by shorter wipers? Is this the actual wiper arm, blades, or wiper motor rods?

If I can get a pic on here i would show you mine I just did it. Yea cut the harness give your self enough slack all the wires were exactly the same. I have a 87 c 10 and I got the front clip off a 91 Blazer worked better then I thought. Jay

I am swapping to a 73-80 style front end from a 81-87.

oh your going older I would assume the wiring would be the Same. I actually tested each wire even though the colors matched.

Re: Swapping front clips.

i did this exact swap two weeks ago and yes i can confirm that it will take tha older harness just fine the only thing that did not bolt up was the front radiator supports which you will have to move forward about an inch. but electrical wise everything will match up

Re: Swapping front clips.

Yes this is good news!

I went to the local U pick it yesterday and for $60 I got the whole rust free header pannel, wiring harness radiator support , grill, light bezals, lights and one turn signal lense. Looks like tommorrow im going back with more money for the filler pannel that goes below the grill and a hood. They had five 73-80, trucks and mabey four 81+ year trucks.
