New rubber Whats next?

Hello brothers & sisters.
I received my new 28x14.5 QTP today along with the long length kicked out pan-hard bar to clear aftermarket diff cover.

Marv has been such help with his advice on the wider tire and lower launch RPM to better my 60 & to make it more consistent. I have also read up on everyone's input on the 3" exhaust. I have the 1 3/4" hooker super comps with 3" collector. I'm currently running 2 1/2" w/ X-pipe and delta flows.
The new pan-hard bar is going to hit the exhaust so its time to run 3" since my 406 put up low lower 600hp.

My question is should I run another x-pipe system and what types of mufflers are out there to run besides flow-masters?

Thanks for your input in advance.

Re: New rubber Whats next?

I hear Dynomax Ultra-Flo's are good race mufflers...not the bullet ones, but the oval ones. I'm gonna try the bullets on mine though.

Re: New rubber Whats next?

X or H-pipe if you are looking for every little bit and a straight thru muffler is your best bet.
Depending on how loud you want it at idle would really depend on what muffler you want.
The Magnaflows are quietest at idle and the Dynomax will be about the same sound level as the flowmasters.

Have you looked into the low profile covers from TA Performance?

Re: New rubber Whats next?

I've heard a lot of good things about the Pypes mufflers, they offer a 3" X-pipe also. From what's on their website, their stuff sounds awesome. I would run an X if I were you, Flowtech has one with cutouts built into it, and Jeg's has one too, but the cutouts are in front of the 'X'. The Flowtech piece has the cutouts after it.

Re: New rubber Whats next?

Thanks for the info on mufflers and X pipes. I didn't know that they make ones with cut outs now. Yes I'm going with a X-pipe system.
I would like to go out side of the box and run something different. Those Borla's sound tough guy.
Any one have info on spin tech?
I also need to figure out were to dump the exhaust out at. I currently runs straight out the back, I was thinking dump them down at the corners kinda like the GTO's
I ordered a new go fast goodie today. A system one oil filter.

Re: New rubber Whats next?

I have the Pypes Violators in 3in and LOVE it. Sound is just nasty. I would dump the exhaust before the rear axle or out before the rear tires.

Re: New rubber Whats next?

Spintechs sound pretty cool, but for max power, I would run a straight through muffler like the Pypes or Dynomax Ultra Flows. They will flow the best since there's nothing in the muffler to slow the exhaust gas down. Borla's are really nice too if you have the money.

ECE also carries the track bar with the bend in it to clear the rear diff.

Re: New rubber Whats next?

Dang so many options to choose from. I see a lot of the dragsters and tube chassis cars running the Borla's. I will look into the Dynatech and the Pypes.

ripdog28 I might try to run the exhaust a little longer than that. I drive this thing all over town and to shows in the summer and the big track is 40 miles one way, so I will try to keep cab noise down a little.

Re: New rubber Whats next?

I was running a 3" X-pipe with Warlocks (uncorkable) for a while. Loved the system. I switched to a dual 3" electric cut outs hanging right off the header. Then to the muffler it necks down to a 2.5" turbo muffler to quiet it down..

The warlocks were nice for being able to uncork it at the track..

Re: New rubber Whats next?

I run a 3" mandrel bent system with the x-pipe just behind the trans, with Dynomax Super Turbos. It dumps right behind the rearend. It has a real nice sound , not loud or cackly, and seems to make real power. Good luck

Those are the Hoosier quick time pro's. They are a bias tire that is a tube type.
They are the widest short tire I could find besides the M/T drag radials.

Ya I hope so. My plan is to be able to turn the 2 step up more so my 60's can get faster.
That's kinda my same thought. I think the 12" would help keep the tire a little more square. If I did my measurements right I need like a 7 1/4"-1/2" BS.
