Motor mount help needed

I'm working on a 1960 GMC, I just hung a cross member from and 81 Chevy truck and want to use the motor mounts that bolt to the cross member. Do I need to add a spacer to the bottom of the mounts to get the angle right or do I need to modify the mounts so thet don't hit the top side of the frame? Thanks for any insite that you have.

Here's a link that shows how I did the motor mounts on my 1960 GMC. If you're keeping the bellhousing mounts the tail shaft crossmember won't apply.

Here's what I did. Cut back the frame roughly 1/2'' so the bolt holes lined up; still needed a little clearancing. I then drilled new mount holes down low on the crossmember about 1/2'' lower than the stock holes and bolted them in place. Check out some pics......it changes the angle slightly but it wasn't difficult to set the engine in place; the usual pushing and

The frame brackets from a C20 are a little shorter than the ones from a C10. But since yours is a '60 they will still be a little taller than the frame.

I have a 61 with an 81 xmember and ran into the same issues. I ended up using c20 mounts, notching the frame rails slightly, and half inch steel spacers. Everything went in really smoothly once i did that. I will try to get pics later if you would like them.

Thebox, I'd appreciate any pics you could send also did you use the sway bar from the 81 and what mods did that take. Thanks for your help.

I used the stock 1975 sway bar on mine that came with the later crossmember. Once the suspension was in place, I simply lowered the truck on the ground to set the suspension at ride height, attached the ends of the bar to the factory bushings on the control arms, and pivoted the bar up against the frame with a floor jack. Drilled 4 holes for the brackets and bolted it in place. It's very simple.
