this is just a pic of how i modified my control arms. reson one is because i have the biggest slam specialties bag up front as well as out back. reson two is because it is angled and it corrected the lean the bag had.

Thats interesting! The old method (channeling) definately takes some room out of the cab. did you have any clearance issues with the drive shaft, or was there a little spot removed farther back(after the trans tunnel)?

LOTIK, first off let me say...WOW! I truely admire the amount of thought and work that has gone into your truck.
I have a question about the braces on your rearend bag setup. Do you plan to leave the welds looking, well, rough? Or are you gonna go back and clean things up and make them pretty once you have a good fit on everything? Keep it goin....looks good.

lotik will the bags in the rear that close together make body roll a issue? I mean I'd think the bags that close together would make cornering worse than having the bags farther apart? Them are huge bags though! How much travel/lift will you have ? Why did you deside to go with bags that big? Is it over kill? They'll take more time to fill. What size line are you going to run? It looks like 1/4" line on there? But them huge bags might make it look like that! LOL 3/8"??

hrmm... where should i start? the welds on the back are mine.. heh. i am not a welder. since then someone else has welded it. i will post a pic of how low it is. the line in that pic was temporary. it is no plumbed with 1/2" line and 1/2" valves. hops in the front.
now, i need to vent. i was letting the truck down with a jack earlier in the front. the back was already on a jack with a block on it. as i was letting the front down the back fell off the jack and my roll pan fell right on top of it. bent the hell out of the roll pan and it cracked where i molded it in. i beat it out some but i cant get it real straight now. =( so i stopped messing with it for the day and will look at it again tomorrow.

Lotik, questions for you...
When are we going to see more pics?? Also, what size wheel/tire are you using and what kind of clearances do you have under the step fender when dropped? Bed side, fender side, and top. I've got 255/50/17's on 17x8 with 5 1/4 backspacing and my tires are pushing on the top outer edge of the fender when dropped. I'm sure yours can go much lower than mine so I'm wondering how you solved the problem. Also looking to see your hood hinge solution pics. I think I saw one pic before but don't recall any mods made to the fenders themselves yet. Thanks in advance, Kenneth

Thats pretty cool, I would just have a blast engineering the whole thing figuring out how to make things work, oh well one day.
As for your welding career, here is a tip to help you out, make sure the two pieces of metal you are joining are clean down to bare metal. Oh yah, one question, are you going to leave those pieces of the frame sticking through the floor of the cab, can't they be angled or something? I see a potenial problem for your gas pedal foot resting area. |
