I had incredible truck luck today.

The weather has gotten really nice here and I've had my '50 3100 on the brain but it's been siting on a trailer in the drive since early February. I gave myself the afternoon off and the truck gods were smiling on 0me today.

1) Last week I scoped out an extra frame, went by today and paid the guy $75 for it and mentioned that I needed a good tire to get my truck off the trailer. He gave me an extra wheel with a good tire for free.

2) The cab of my truck was crammed with 18 years of mouse dwellings, pretty much the entire drivetrain and 4 bags of trash so I set about cleaning it. The very first thing I pulled out was an "hypermart" grocery store bag that contained a brand new whole truck harness and shop manual!!! It's old but was completely sealed and in perfect shape, the only thing the mice didn't eat! I almost peed a little.

3) As I'm pulling the seat frame out and finding out it is rusted and broken beyond repair a guy pulls up and says he has a '52 and asks if I need parts. We jump in the truck and I came back with a good seat frame for $40.

4) My neighbor stops by to help, he wants to go get his Grandpa's old '48 and invites me to road trip with him. I like roadtrips.

5) Oh yeah, also talked with Paul Horton about his welderseries crossmember and he got me much closer to making a decision on the IFS.

This was an awesome day for me, got some sun for the first time in months and for once a project starts off good!

Particularly when you consider how much they seem to frown on this old iron!

I'm thinking stock width which I believe is 56" but I haven't researched alot. I plan to run 7" steel wheels, nothing radical.

Sucks about your phone, hope my luck doesn't equal out!

Thanks for the info. I plan 15x8 and 15x10's if all things work out on mine.

Re: I had incredible truck luck today.

All hail the truck Gods! I have two goats ready for sacrifice next week, I want to come across some good junk yard deals myself.

I completely understand your excitement and kudos on holding that pee in!
