not rare you make them yourself but cutting the frame a couple people here are currently doing or planning on doing their own

Re: Whats up with all these ccsb????
The 2nd one isn't bad, but $7k for the 1st??? Truck wasn't that nice to warrant that price IMO. Maybe I should start building these after I get mine done if they are gonna bring those prices.....

Re: Whats up with all these ccsb????
Just because they are modified doesnt mean they are butchered. They will have their day where they bring a premium. Trust me. I think they're awesome. Wish I had one to park beside my 86 SWB.

Re: Whats up with all these ccsb????
Maybe using "butchered" was a little too strong, But I've seen quite a few butchered up "modified" frames/suspensions.....

Re: Whats up with all these ccsb????
looks like someone swapped the vinplate on the 78 or the used a lot of newer truck parts. it has the 208 shifter, the 80s frontend and gauges and dash, or the only thing 78 about the truck is the cab, and if its a 1 ton, why would they put half ton axles in it?

Re: Whats up with all these ccsb????
My guess would be that the black one started out as a stripped down parts truck, and they used what was available to put it back together.
Just a note, that '99 pictured is a factory crew cab/short bed. They were available in '99 and '00, and they were even available as a dually too! Last edited by USSkoval; 03-21-2010 at 09:45 AM. |

Re: Whats up with all these ccsb????
I traded the blue short box for an 07 Raptor 700, still have the crew, still haven't done a thing to it since late November. I'm still getting pieces for it, and when I get the Jeep going for the wife (hey she wants it not me!!!) then I will bring it home and get going on it. I'm really jones'n to get it done, at least drivable under it's own power.

Re: Whats up with all these ccsb????
Agreed. RC/SBs are tolerable. Square body CC/SBs look like crap. Heck, I don't even like the new ones. I don't think 2500HD/3500HDs should be offered in a short bed really. Long bed or GTFO.

Re: Whats up with all these ccsb????
Well if you love the long beds, there are plenty available to choose from. I'm a short bed fan.
As for the original question, "Whats with all these CCSB?" I own one and I like that they were not made from the factory and to me the long beds proportions are just off. A short bed is a must for a lowered 2wd, and look awesome on a lifted 4wd. My truck is by no means a hack job, but there are some that are ... so please don't lump all CCSB together has crap.
