Hey just wondering a few thing about this drop kit if anyone could help?

1. Hows the ride?
2. do i need to c-noth the frame?
3. What wheel sizes are people running?
4. was the install easy? (seems easy)
5. did you like the kit?

thanks a lot really wanna go lower then what i have now which is 2/4 just wondering what people thought?

There are several running that drop right now. To me it's the perfect classic drop. 72BlackBeauty's truck is a great example...hopefully he'll post it up with sizes. Some run a C-notch if they plan on having loads in their bed but it's not required. You can run factory height wheels or 20's with the same overall height as factory (or anything in between) Hopefully others will chime in.

The ride is great, though you can't carry a lot of weight in the bed as the rear springs are softer for a better ride.

Going any lower and you'll probably have to C notch the rear and it gets a little more complicated in the front (camber issues etc..).

4. Yes, except for removing the rivets for the upper shock mounts
5. Yes, Excellent quality product.

Definitely go for the 4/6.

Early Classic is a top notch outfit. If you have a problem or there's something you don't understand call Stan and he will help. If something isn't right, just call and they do not hesitate to replace a part.

Their drop kit is also top notch!

I just placed an order withthem last week for a kit, and it arrived with small block springs instead of BB. One of the reasons I went with ECE was because everyoone here speaks so highly of their customer service, and now I too can say the same. Picked up the phone, didn't have to do the "press 1 for English", or listen to elevator music for an hour like other places.

No hassle, replacement on the way. Great people.

I have that kit on my 67. I like the stance, running 265/60/15 on 15x8 wheels.

Pretty easy kit with some minor work needed to remove old shock hangers (rivits).
I did not use a cnotch.
In my opinion, as I drive this truck more and more, I feel the front is too low for most bad roads around the bay area. I do bottom out every now and then on the inner ends of the lower a-arms. So, while it looks good, I would run the 3/5 drop for daily driver unless your roads are in very good shape.

As many have already said, this is the kit to buy. All the parts are included and it goes together like pie.

No c-notch is required, unless, you will haul fairly heavy loads; I have yet to bottom out (except once) during normal driving conditions.

EDIT...

As far as the ride quality, I would recommend it to anyone. Smooth and clean, not rough even with the roads in Missouri.

I'm glad I saw this post. I have the ECE 4/6 drop. The front is higher than I expected but figured it needed to settle. After reading your post I realized that I order the kit when I had a big block. I changed to a small block since installing the kit. Guess I'll be buying new springs!

you could always just cut one coil out of it but it is probably best for the best handling to get the proper spring.

I recently did the 4/6 ECE on my 69SWB. I have 30" tires (29.25" diameter) and I love the "full" look. 15x7 in the front and 15x8 rear. I will probably go with 338's when I'm done installing the A833 4 speed OD tranny. The bottom pic shows the truck before the drop.

I am planning on going with the 4/6 drop as I build my 70swb, I'm also converting to 5-lug using front suspension from an '85 chevy pu. my question is do you have to cut/notch the lower control arms to run 15" wheels, because of the dropped spindles. I'm thinking of the 15X7 ralleys for the front & 15X8 rallys on the rear.

No need to cut or notch anything. The wheels will clear fine.

Not bad if you hit a bump hard enough you do feel it.

18/20 295-45-20 & 255-50-18

straight up not too bad from 1-10 I will give it a 5 with the proper lift and tools.

I replaced my eCE 2/4 drop with 4/6, but I believe it was actually a 3 1/2- 6 drop, 2 1/2 in drop spindles with a 1 in drop spring all from ece. I had to cut the rubber bump stops by 1 inch. It is exactly the look I wanted.
