Information Parts Tie Rod

Hello fellow suburban owners. This seems like a good place to get needful things (parts and information) to keep my 68KE 1/2 ton rolling.

I have a 1971 4x4 axle under my burb to upgrade to disc brakes. I now have a problem with tie rods. Seems that my tie rods are the early style with the one long tie rod on the right side. Soooooo, does anyone have or know where I can get or know of any modifications that can help put me back on the road?

I am concedering cutting the long tie rod and threading the cut end. Then using two short threaded adjusters, one on each end going to the newer short tie rod peices. I have not called around to find a machine shop yet soooo I do not now if they can or will do such a thing. This is my thought since I have already spent a couple days on line and on phone with no luck.

If anyone has this center adjusting tube about 48" (I'm guessing as yet) they can part with please let me know.

A picture of this part is on page 131 (bottom of page between #1 tie rod and #2 tie rod) of my LMC catalog, but it is greyed out without part number - not available.
Any help will be appreciated.

Welcome to the board!
You may want to peruse the 4x4 section for your dilemma, you'll most likely get more responses to your question.
