Overwhelmed by my project!!

My garage looks like a chop shop. There is the frame leaned against the house on my side yard, fenders hanging on the walls, the bed is cut into three sections, suspension completely apart, motor and trans still dangling from the hoist. Will it ever end???

Just do like I do, get it all together and then take it all back apart to change something. Wht else would you do with all of your spare time!

It always helps me to have a plan and stick to it. Break it into weeks. Like this week I'm going to clean and assemble the front end. etc etc.

NO, it will not get any better. I suggest you box up your parts and leave it by the curb. I will be by later to haul it away for you.

Honestly, I am feeling the same way. But like others have said just keep at it. The stacks get smaller and the parts start going back together eventually.

Catalog each section that you go through, so it'll go back together correctly and keep us updated. We'll give you the advise you need to get back on the road. Some guys here have the ability to haul thru their projects (not me) and the others take months.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for the encouragement. I am actually feeling a bit better about the whole deal. I got some good quotes from the blaster today and made some progress on the bed shortening. I have had quite a few projects in the past but I've never had one this far apart where I tackled everything from the motor build to the paint in my garage. Thanks again.

hey you really havn't even got started good yet, you only have ONE truck disassembled there. and wait untill you get your chevys mixed in with jeeps, m1008s, halftracks, weapon carriers, scouts, tractors... well you get the idea. don't give up, it's worth it!

Start by transferring your plan to paper...organize your project on paper, based on time, budget and skills. Be flexible with your plan and check items off the list and date them, to help you see your continued progress.

Doing a "Hit List" is a good motivator, as well, especially when you are able to check things off the list as they are completed.

Keep the faith, half the fun is in the build. Think of it as a a journey, not a destination.

Have you started a "Build Book"? I started one for my '65 and it helps me to keep motivated. I have a section for receipts and another for ideas and photos. Whenever I see something that someone else has done that I like I will print it out and throw it in the book. Then when I get overwhelmed I will pull out the book and it always gets me motivated again.

Another thing is to work on something small instead of just the major parts of the project. That way you feel like you have made some progress and it gives a feel for what the finished project will look like.

That and you can always take a spin in your Mopar!

By the way the Mopar air cleaner on your C10 looks like it was meant to be...

LilRed is exactly right. inch by inch, I tore my truck down in October last year, when I was finished tearing it down I looked around and thought, what in the world have i done., but now 6 months later just by doing something small every chance I can, frame is done engine is done, etc, etc, keep going and in a year you will go man that is cool. And most of all have fun with it. Good luck with your project!!

Dont worry it will get alot harder before it gets easier BUT...when you start going togather with it start with the foundation (frame) and then go from there. I have been at mine for over a year and all I have is hand-me-down bags,alot of make your own stuff and a cab and two fenders. Besides the motor and trans I need everything else but do something small and motivation will come. Here!
