12 bolt truck gears

So, I'm kind of an idiot...I had a set of 2.73 and a set of 2.76 gears kicking around, in the process of rearranging the garage they got mixed up. I'm assuming I can just count the teeth on the gears, and figure out which pinion goes with which ring gear. I was just curious if there was a website or a link to a thread where carrier and ring and pinion numbers are. I have one for Dana stuff, but nothing for GM Corporate stuff.

As a side note, I believe the 3 series carrier was for 2.76 to 3.73, and the 2 series carrier was for 2.56 and 2.73 only, correct?

Is this stuff even worth hanging onto, or should I chuck it next time I take scrap in?

Thanks everyone.

Re: 12 bolt truck gears

you can chuck it in a box and send it to me!!! I need alot more gear in my truck for the caddy engine to beat!!!

I would count them up and try to roll one around the other to confirm!!

Divide the ring gear teeth by the pinion gear to be sure,

Re: 12 bolt truck gears

the ring gears should have the number of pinion teeth and the number of ring teeth stamped on it seperated by a colon. for example......... XX:XX on a 3.07 rear end it would be 14:43 or 43:14 I can't remember which is first

Re: 12 bolt truck gears

It's also likely stamped on the side of the ring gear. It'll say 43:14, or whatever.
