What tranny is behind the 6.2? 700R4 or TH400?

x2 if the 700r4 is in their that might last for a while depends on condition if you got a turbo 400 then it will be better.

Re: my 85 chevy c20 diesel trans question/tips/ideas??
Did this same swap with my '84 suburban several years ago, the only thing that you might run into is if the 454 flexplate has holes to line up with the converter bolts, I had to drill mine to line up, other then that it was/is a striaght swap. As for the 700R4 trans I had it rebuilt at the same time, so it was "fresh" but I used this to pull my 26' racecar trailer everywhere & have never had a moments problem with it!

Keep the original 454 flexplate, holes "should" be ok.

the governor and the torque converter are going to be different...you need to keep both of them from the trans behind the 454...
