Benefits of new BALL JOINTS?
Hey guys,
dumb questions but tell me why a new set of ball joints (upper and lower) will effect the suspension. Mine are worn out on my 66. I just want to understand the ball joints function. Thanks. |

Re: Benefits of new BALL JOINTS?
think of it this way just like old people there joints wear out and they aren't held into the socket as well because the material used to help them move around wears away.. there for they are more prone to break or even pop out.. you should be able to feel the play in the ball joints but pulling up on them and moving them back and forth.. if they aren't replaced when worn there is possibility of failure of the ball joint and loosing control of your truck. so good idea to replace them.

Re: Benefits of new BALL JOINTS?
You are torturing your brake hose by letting the spindle hang like that. Look how tight it's pulled.

X2!
If your brakes "stick" and burn after you do the ball joints, a bad brake hose will be the reason. Hanging the caliper is very bad on an old hose, let along the A-arm and spindle too. Bad on a new one too for that matter.
