Made me a '400' emblem for the '73 grille.

So I recently dropped a 400 in the '73. The grille still said '350' and it was driving me crazy. I learned on here that our trucks didn't come with a 400 option until '75 or so. Since a 400 emblem wasn't available for 73/74, I made my own. Using my existing 350 emblem and another one that was sent to me by fellow member Kaysenmc (thanks a million, Kaysen. I owe you one ) and an old, faded '454' emblem I had in the parts pile, a little bondo and paint, this is what I came up with. I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

I love those emblems. Were they used any other years than 73 and 74?

Yup. I purchased the second one from member 71blksuper4X4, but that one was waaay to nice to cut up. That one went back on the shelf. I actually have an extra grille hanging on the wall in the garage that I will put that one on.

Thanks for the compliments!!

Engine size emblems were also used on 75 - 77? grilles also. Maybe even up to '80, I'm not sure. Someone will chime in with more knowledge I'm sure.

The '75 and up ones had a little more "modern" styling...Which is why I wanted to make my own with 73/4 emblems...to keep the older style "font".

Thanks, I'll watch for a 75-up grill for the engine badge - it's a nice touch on a stock grill.

The 400 emblem turned out great, nice work.

That's the grill I have, thanks for the info. I'll start searching and stop thread-jacking.
