Mounting accessories with headers - A/C and Alternator
So the alternator bracket on my '68 is bolted to the manifolds, and the A/C bracket is also. What have you guys done to mount these with headers?
The A/C bracket is particularly nasty, because I have to pull it just to get the valve covers off! I also Can't use taller covers with that monster bracket. Thoughts? Pics?

Re: Mounting accessories with headers - A/C and Alternator
The header manufacturers usually have brackets you can buy. Cheesy compared to GM's stuff, though. Another reason to run the 'vette Rams Horns!

Re: Mounting accessories with headers - A/C and Alternator
I tried googling vette rams horns and the results look pretty much like what I have right now. I'm really looking for an aftermarket braket set, or perhaps idea of how to fab up some braces that rely only on the block and heads. I have a few spare bolt holes in my block.

Re: Mounting accessories with headers - A/C and Alternator
Like I said, most header manufacturers make the brackets. Here is the link to Jeg's and a bunch of brackets as you request. I used to run this style ac bracket on my Jimmy, but ditched it when I went to the 2 1/2" Rams Horns which made as much power as the headers but no bolt/bracket/gasket BS. If you have accessory bolt holes in your heads, I would buy the 69-72 truck alternator brackets.

Re: Mounting accessories with headers - A/C and Alternator
I have fabbed some extentions ( spacers out of pipe) and reused the stock manafold bolt or use a piece of threaded rod screw it into the block place a nut to hold your header on it then put another nut on it a washer and then mount your A/C then another washer and nut then you can adjust it back into the location so everything lines up
this works very well Jeff
