Fuel tank removal.

Has anyone had the honor of removing the gas tank and replacing the fuel pump on a '95 s-10??? The dealer says that my pump is bad and they might as well take a couple of toes as payment. I'm going to do it myself (can't be any harder than the tank on my '69 Blazer). So any early tips would be much help.
Thanks.
BTW: Would I be better off buying the pump directly from the dealer at a higher cost (better quality???), or buying one from Autozone, NAPA or Checkers??
