Under dash brake assembly
I have been a member on here for about 3 yrs...but don't post much. I have started my build about a year ago. I have a 71 gmc with porterbuilt front and rear dropmembers and porterbuilt hoog hinges. If I could figure out how to upload pic from a iPhone I would show you guys. I know that these post are worthless without pictures. Lol. If you wanna take a look you can go here. www.porterbuiltstreetrods.com Eric's gmc. My question is...ups just dropped off my under dash brake assembly from scotts hot rods and I was wondering if any of you guy are running this set up. Any photos and installation tips would greatly appreciated.

Re: Under dash brake assembly
VA72C10 thanks for posting pics. I was gonna go that route too. But just not enough room under there. All the frame mount brake setups I have seen hang slightly below the frame. Can't be having that when laying frame. Lol. Thanks again.

Re: Under dash brake assembly
No problem. Yeah, my original plan was just to do a simple bag job to tuck the tires but I've been bit by the porterbuilt bug....may end up going the same route as you so I'll be checking out the answers on here. I know there have been others who have used the under dash setups. Usually wiper motor interference is the biggest issue. Either have to delete them all together if it's a full on show truck or use an aftermarket one to get the neccessary room.

I just finished installing mine. I will get you some pics tomorrow. Ive got to modify the pedal arms because they are too long, but other than that, its all in.

Re: Under dash brake assembly
I'll have pics up in a few minutes. It's got to go as high as possible. Concerning the steering column, I wouldnt doubt it...I'm putting an aftermarket column in so I'm not dealing with the stock location. This underdash assembly is universal which means "it ain't easy to put it!" LOL.

Re: Under dash brake assembly
How much did that set you back? That;s the Scott's kit right? How are you going to bring the brake lines into the cab?

Re: Under dash brake assembly
A complete set up with assembly mounting brackets...cpp booster...cpp m/c...wilwood proportioning valve...wilwood 2lb residual valves. $568.00 to my front step. Shipping was $33. This setup is for front and rear disc. My plans are to run the lines through the floor.

Re: Under dash brake assembly
That thing looks sweet. You weren't kidding about getting that think as high as possible. Lol. I was gonna just weld to the firewall...but not sure now. What type of wiper motor are you looking at.
