Re: 87 lowered
You're gonna have to cut half a coil off the front. I did the same thing and it sat the same way. I cut the half a coil off and it sat perfectly.
No offense, it looks great! |

Re: 87 lowered
It looks good going down the road but I think cutting the spring will make it even out.
Thanks

Here are a couple of pics of "Bob" after the drop, but before and after the 1/2 a coil off the front spring. Hope it helps.

Re: 87 lowered
yeah id say cut it a little like mine vvvvvvv
heres a 3/5 drop in the first pic and then 3/4 of a coil cut off in the next 2 pics ...and you will need to get a alignment after lowering, dont mater if its just spindles, get it done, save your tires (:

Re: 87 lowered
I just pulled the drop spring back out (It's much easier to pull drop coils ) and used a grinder with a cut off wheel and took off a 1/2 a coil and reassembled. You can cut the coil spring with anything except torches (the heat will affect the coils integrity).
Good Luck with it, and post pics when you finished. |

Re: 87 lowered
I put drop spindles on so I dont know how to take off the springs because i have never done that that
Does it take a lot to take off or is it just un bolting the ball joints then take out the spindles?

Re: 87 lowered
you might not need to take them out completely.
dont quote me but i think you can use a clamp to clamp them down enough and cut of half a coil then just undo the clamps. please correct me if im wrong though guys. |

Re: 87 lowered
take off a half of a coil....
this is how you do it..vvv take off the tire take off the caliper and hang it,loosing up the upper ball joint nut some but dont take it off.put a jack under the LCA and put perssure on it.hit the top of the spindle by the ball joint to free it up.then take out the ball joint nut.and slowly let the jack down all the way(make sure you have the truck up high enough so the LCA can go all the way down.and the sping should just fall right out.. cut the bottom of the spring after you cut it put the spring back in.clock it so it sits in the grove on the LCA and jack up the jack till you can put the nut back on the upper ball joint.tighten it all down and put everything back.

Re: 87 lowered
How much do you actually cut off of the spindle?

Re: 87 lowered
NO!!!! don't do that...it will ruin the spring, if you cut the hole coil spring in half you will not be able to reuse them, as that would be about 6" of drop .
You just cut a 1/2 a coil off. In other words, from the bottom of the coil spring, mark off 1/2 of the first round of the coil spring...it's about 8" long, from the end of the original coil spring to where you will be cutting...that will give you roughly 1" of additional drop. |
