my 4wd conversion
ok Ive been thinking about my 4x4 swap and recently thought about just buying a k30 crewcab and swapping my cab and everything else on it. I found a couple of k30 crewcabs in the past but they were beaten and abused. So that got me thinking i can swap everything over. I dont want to sell my truk because everything is new on it and would rather just swap everything over to the 4wd frame.
Any info would be appreciated. thanks Also how much of a lift is this? im thinking a 2inch with 31,s? looks really good

Re: my 4wd conversion
That looks like a 4" lift with either 235/85/16s or 255/85/16s.

Re: my 4wd conversion
I have done a similar conversion....it is easier to swap bodies then swap suspension. You have to drill ALL the front holes for the springs. In the rear 2wd and 4wd spring hangars are different and you would need to change them to make it "correct". IMO

Re: my 4wd conversion
I'm in the process of making an 89 crew 2wd into a 4wd. By the time I'm done, it would have been quicker and easier to swap bodies. There is only 6 bolts IIRC that holds the body on, and I forgot how many holes I had to drill in the frame to bolt stuff up. Not to mention changing the rear spring front hangers.
Also something that I found out the hard way was the crossmembers. I took 2 different ones, one of a 1/2-3/4 ton and one of a true 1 ton 4wd, they are the same thing, neither of which would go in the frame on a 2wd 1 ton frame. I used the 2wd crew frame cause it was real clean, and the main reason is I couldn't find a 4wd crew frame where I'm located. What ticks me off, I've parted out a handful of 4wd crew frames, one that was almost spotless....

Re: my 4wd conversion
i've always known that the 4x4 had the high hump and the 2 wheel had the short hump due to the fact of the transfer case

Re: my 4wd conversion
If it were me in california I would just sell your truck and buy the K30.clean ones are easier to find. That being said I am looking at two 2wheel drive ones this week to replace the body on my 85 k30 cc. I am going to go the body swap even though the frames on the 2wds are rust free.
