Grille and Fender choices
Hey guys, this is what I got going.
I am currently driving a 68 c10 longbed fleetside with all the parts including fenders, grille and hood. I just bought a 69 c10 cab, with 71 disk brake shortbed frame. I just purchased inner and outer fenders for 71-72 with the core support and cowl. (Thank you, "Wasted Income"). I almost have a complete truck My question is, if you had a choice between the 67-68 style hood and fenders/grille, or the 69-72 style hood fenders/grille? the 67-68 has the grille confined inside the fenders, where the 69-72 grille runs all the way around to the fenders and grille. If I pull the hood fenders and grill from the 68, I would be complete, but if I keep the 71 fenders, I will have to find the whole grille assemble and the hood. So, which combo do you like and why?

Re: Grille and Fender choices
A lot of people prefer the 67-68's, though I personally enjoy the 69-72's the best. Trevor

Re: Grille and Fender choices
x2, I would choose the 67-68 front end over any other style any day.

Re: Grille and Fender choices
The 67/68 was so good looking you can find it's lines and style reflected in more later models than any of the other years...
I just got one to incorporate into my 72GMC build... Trip |

Re: Grille and Fender choices
Well, it looks like I stand alone in saying that I think the 71-72 Chevys look the best. The honeycomb grill, blinkers in the bumper, and a more vertical front on the hood is just a classic look IMHO. Thats if I had to choose, however we all agree that nothing can compare to the body lines on any of the 67-72 chevy trucks.

Re: Grille and Fender choices
I say 71-72.
That way I can trade you a 69-72 hood for those 68 fenders! HA. I really need a nice set of 68 fenders. I see you are another Missouri member. Welcome to the board. Got any pics?

Re: Grille and Fender choices
I posted a poll a few years ago on here, and the 67-68's overwhelmingly took the prize. 69-70 and 71 - 72 were surprisingly close to each other.

Re: Grille and Fender choices
If it were for my truck,
If its a 67-68, then keep the 67-68 grill/fenders. If its a 69-72 then do any of the 69-72 grill/fenders (I like the 69-70 and the 71-72 equally) For some reason (even though I wish I had originally got a 67 or 68), I don't like the idea of creating a 67/68 clone from a 69+ I wouldn't like the idea of having to explain that I don't have a 67/68 but rather a 1970.

JoJo the only reason I got the 69 cab was it was less rusted than the 68. Plus I am driving the 68 now, and I can work on the 69 cab. This truck will never be all numbers matching show truck, so I will put together a truck that I can piece together and which people will agree that looks good. Plus, It will be fun to get people to guess what year my truck is. LOL Thanks for the posts guys. Anyone have a spare 69-72 hood and grille. They don't have to be in good condition, since I will sell the 68 once I get the 69 built.

Re: Grille and Fender choices
I almost agree the ^...but I like the 67-68 hood with the 69-70 grille...I think the hood and lines off the 67-68 are the cleanest, but the 69-70 grill/smooth bumpers are the meanest.
