Made up new battery cables to replace the worn and thin factory ones, now time to get it in for a full tune up.

Busy Busy Busy.

Went to a swap meet Saturday, bought a brand new in the box Edelbrock 2104 intake for my S-10, $100.00. Price was so good I just handed the guy a C note and called it a day.

A friend of mine is closing his salvage yard, there was just one vehicle left to be crushed and I pillaged it. 1983 C-10, I grabbed the front cross-member (sawzall) along with the upper and lower control arms, motor stands and mounts. The bed and front clip were gone, cab floor was shot. I'm going to replace the upper and lower bushings and the ball joints making my planned front end rebuild a simple bolt in deal.

Oh, forgot. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the cross-member, could become an R&D project.

Is this a frontend rebuild for your Ole Heap . I guess the 70's must be interchangeable with the 80's.

Got the 327 in my Jimmy clean/painted. I pulled the oil pan off my old GM crate motor to replace the bad one on the 327.

Yes, for the Heap. I figure this way I can take my time without taking the truck off the road for an extended period.

See you at Super Chevy?

Re: What did you get done 3/28/10 Palm Sunday Edition

After my recent lessons in "gauges 101", I installed a mechanical temp gauge on the 85, cleaned 25 years of grime off the steering wheel and then more cleaning and inspecting. Planning on using it as a daily driver this week since it has been down more than up for the past month with 'little things' needing attention! (I got this truck 6 weeks ago)

It needs road time. It sat for over a year then was revived last fall for about 1k before I got it this February. At this time, everything works, nothing leaks and even the oem radio with new speakers works! This truck is getting driven!

Also got the 79 cleaned up and gone through with some country road runs this week-end just to get it out from sitting around. Gotta paint those rims this spring. I really like the '79'. It's fun to drive, responsive and a good runner. Dash is shot and some rust, but there is something about it. It is just a good old truck.

A few pics. Have a good Monday all!
Mark

Light check!

Ready for tomorrow...

Played with the wife's new camera tonight too! The 79 appears electrically "charged"!

Re: What did you get done 3/28/10 Palm Sunday Edition

Nothing truck related. Took the family to my boys first bmx race.
It was a blast. Even I signed up and raced.
My son took a terrible spill, endo'd the first table top on final practice cracked the visor on his helmet, but he got right up and kept going. I did not see it, but my wife had a heart attack. They said it looked UGLY. Got some road rash on his back, thank God he was ok. He raced 7 rookie against 6 novice and 8 rookie.
The 8 rookie beat him...if my boy would stay off the seat and peddle like he does at home he would have won easy, a little more seat/track time and he will be rollin' like a pro.
So him and I both took 1st for our ages...lol I raced a 41x (AA pro) and a 17 expert(that kid was FAST, he was done and I was on turn 2!)
We had a blast.

I finally got a chance to finish the work on Geralds(driveway dreams) stereo, turned out sounding pretty good.

I got the old wheels off the suburban swapped out for the rally's that were on the Blazer. I think it looks much better

I spent most of the weekend workin' on my new dually...buffed the paint, cleaned the interior and the messing wiring, polished the wheels and tuned 'er up...

Also did a quick intake and carb swap on my wife's '66 Impala...

Re: What did you get done 3/28/10 Palm Sunday Edition

I started to get the body ready for some paint, nothing special just some rattle can to get it all 1 color and something easy to repaint as I work on the body. Found some 062Vortec heads locally for super cheap and they are in great shape. Cleaned the garage and heloed a buddy replace wheel bearings in his Mecury Mountaineer, what a PITA!!!

Re: What did you get done 3/28/10 Palm Sunday Edition

My gf surprised me with tickets to Pinks all out at Dallas!! It was a really neat weekend, and a much needed vacation for both of us. Ate some really good food and got to spend some QT together.

Even got to see another boardmembers truck in Mesquite, flamingbig10. Very sharp truck man!! Wish I could've stopped to say hi, but we had to get going.

Re: What did you get done 3/28/10 Palm Sunday Edition

A buddy and I got the seat tabs welded in, so the ol junker has seats again. Waiting till this week (my days off are tues - friday morn) to get the console in and some temporary gauges sorted out. Hopefully this week will also produce an intake/carb setup from CL. If I accomplish all that, then ill have it back to drivability. Guess its almost time for a build thread.

Got the 6.0 , 4l80 close to wrapped up. Just need to wrap and install my harness and she'll be ready to fire! Cant wait. Still need to install radiator hoses, and a few other odds and ends but it's getting close.

Re: What did you get done 3/28/10 Palm Sunday Edition

Changed the coolant and fixed the horns on a Honda Accord.

Put new front shock on. (did the rear shocks last week) Old shocks were original so ride should be much improved.

Pulled the radiator out and replace the water pump, thermostat, heater hoses, main hoses, fuel pump and belts. I swear, the coolant I drained look like it was original as well. I didn't get it all back together yet and I think I may pull the water pump out again. I had some trouble putting the new on in and I'm may have fouled up one of the gaskets. I'm thinking is easier to pull in out now and make sure the gasket is right than put it all together and have it leak on me.

Next project will be the brakes.
