Cab Lights

So my 78 still doesn't run, but i'm going to start getting the cab ready to go on the truck and start painting it in the next couple weeks. It is not set up for the factory roof lights ,but i definitely want to put some on. I'm going to paint the truck dark green with a black roof and white stripes, so ithough maybe some smoke black lenses to help hide them during the day. Anyway i'm looking for ideas so if any of you guys have any pictures that would be awesome! Thanks in advance

Re: Cab Lights

Why put them on if you want to try to hide them?

Re: Cab Lights

I tend to agree, why have them if wanting to hide them in smoke, but...there are a variety of clears in the after-market (which would look nice on the black) or ambers.

Just replaced the lenses on the 85 recently. Ebay was cheaper than LMC for oem replacement lenses. Do a search on ebay for "Chevy truck clearance lights" and occasionally you'll find oem sets, replacement lenses or newer styles/sets. A search for just "clearance lights" will show all kinds.

LMC does have some complete cab lighting options:

I stayed with oem. A forum member was right for suggesting the original looks best. I did think about changing them at first, but that would have been a mistake. He was right for what I have.

Either way, whatever you like should be the rule. Good luck in the choosing!

Here are the oems; the 85 & 79 have the same lights:

Re: Cab Lights

I also just replaced mine with new GM lenses, from the dealer. My cost was cheap, but I don't think list price was much higher.

Re: Cab Lights

I just want them to blend in during the day light and show up good at night. I think i found a set i like, the whole shabang for $65 wit hsmoke colored lenses, i don't want factory lights since my cab is not setup for them.

Re: Cab Lights

I had all my exterior lenses tinted. front, side, rear, and cab lights. I also re-wired the outer 2 cab lights to work as turn signals as well
