67 short fleet
I have owned this truck for about 16 years. I have been collecting parts for it since i bought it. I thought I was going to save a bunch of time and money and purchace a different cab. Well after blasting it, it is as just about the same as what I already had.
My current task is to get the cab done and then I will do the frame next. The truck will get a drop I think 4.5/6 range. More pictures to come soon. Last edited by 67_ShortFleet; 09-09-2011 at 12:43 PM. |

Re: 67 short fleet
My plans are to re-use the current 350, just freshen it up. I may put a 700-r4 in it. I have a factory air unit for it, but I will convert it to a sanden compressor. I plan on 2.5 inch dropped spindles and 2 inch lowering springs in front. The rear will get 6 inch lowering springs and maybe c-notches. A rear mounted gas tank will also be installed. The fuel filler will be in the bed floor or under the taillight. The color will be gold and white with all the trim. I hope to find a buddy bucket seat for it. When I can afford it, it will get some nice wheels.

Re: 67 short fleet
Looks like a great build, best of luck!
Just so you know... a c-notch will not be required for a 6" drop in the rear. If you have any questions about the install of the 4.5/6" drop kit, just let me know. I've posted the entire install in my build thread in my signature (Blank Slate).

Re: 67 short fleet
more pictures. The tailgate is a $20 rust free dented to hell swap meet buy. I still have alot of work to do on it. I may cut it accross the top and drill out the spot welds so I can straighten it easier. This is the (better) cab. It has been stripped and sand blasted and epoxy primed. The last picture I am marking to cut the outer floor extension out to get ready for a new one.

Re: 67 short fleet
Should be a great project. Note on the 700R4, I'm running a 400sbc with decent cam and 3.05 gears. The vehicle lugs on the highway (60-65) at 1300-1400 rpm. I think this due to the cam not being able to produce power at that rpm. I'll be puting in 3.73s to get it up to 1700 where it runns a hole lot better. Good luck

More patch panels. I found this bike while looking for truck parts at the junk yard. We have already had our $5 worth of fun with it.

Re: 67 short fleet
Long time with out progress. I've gotten back to it over christmas break. I installed the cab support and the inner a pillar/kick panel bottom. I got some firewall patches from a board member. Nice stuff!

Re: 67 short fleet
More pictures. I also got a drip rail from the same donor. The one on this cab got hit and it looks like it would be easier to replace than straighten. Firewall panel is removed and patch is close to the right size.

Re: 67 short fleet
I made some more progress today. The A pillar is almost done. I picked up this ebrake handle and cover for $5 this fall. It is a little early for a wiring harness, but I found this on craigslist. The price was right so I bought it. It looks like quality item.

Re: 67 short fleet
Nice progress Matt!
Also... do I see a new 'white' gas pump between the garage doors in one pic? Did you get rid of the patina pump?

Re: 67 short fleet
Well I made some more progress. Firewall and floor patches are welded in. Just a few pin holes to fill. I cut out the rusty B pillar and have the patch close to fitting. What a PIA to fit all this stuff.

Re: 67 short fleet
I really like the light Idea, you can never have enough light. The truck is really coming along and its great to see your replacing all that rust with new metal. Look forward to seeing more pictures.
