Re: cassette fm/am radio

There isn't a lot of demand for cassette radios, especially those with shafts.
Therefore, there isn't a lot of production to drive the numbers up to be "cheap".

Re: cassette fm/am radio

these days everything is shaftless and made to cut apart the dash... try the local swap meets and flea markets maybe there or the boneyard but new its not cheap

Re: cassette fm/am radio

I just put this one in my 86 using the post mounts (also comes with the bits to install in the modern opening). It fits great without modification to the dash.

Amazon.com: Dual XC4100 In Dash AM/FM/Cassette... Amazon.com: Dual XC4100 In Dash AM/FM/Cassette...
Was actually less than 30 when I got it. It's really simple in design and doesn't have digital tuning or presets, but it does have a jack on the front to plug in an MP3 player. It was the only post-mount system I could find (outside of the expensive classic reproductions, etc).

Hope that helps,
Tim

Check Pawn Shops....I always see a few shaft mount cassette stereos in there.

Re: cassette fm/am radio

I have an old Audiovox av982 that i may throw in my 82'. Picked this up when I got some parts out of a friend's 80' burb. Also have a brand new in the box 4 year old Sony CDX-GT400 that I may use. I will have to build something custom to house it though. Not cutting into my dash

Re: cassette fm/am radio

I found one at AutoZone a couple years back for like $50.00, it was even a Jensen. I would check Wally world too.
