typical drop spindle problem?

I put on my DJM 3" spindles last night [5" total now] and went to drive it today when I got a bad grinding noise. Get out and look and the top of my brake caliper is grinding againts the inside of my rim. Its the caliper bracket, not the actual caliper. Is this normal? They are 15" rims and the a-arms are not hitting.

Yes it's common. I had that prob with my 95+ wheels. I had to grind off about 3/4" inch off the top w/ an angle grinder.

i knew bout the lower control arm problems, but not this.


but atleast you didnt have to hammer your calipers into the spindles like i did

Spindles always have some issue.
73-87 may rub the wheel on the top edge
88-98 rubs the LCA "rain gutter" on stockers
99-03 lose half of the turning radius

Well, actually, I did But thats no biggie. Had to do that to my 78 with belltechs too. My 78 had the a-arms hit the rims. Always a new problem. So I went out and bought a die grinder tonight. I love new power tools :p
