Anyone else HATE black wheels?

Am i the only one, or is anyone else out there feeling me? Why is it suddenly cool to look like you are driving on 4 spare rims? Just had to vent... sorry.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

I don't want to offend anyone. I'm sure there are plenty of applications they look fitting like on Mikes truck. I don't care for them. It looks like someone spent a bunch of money to hide their new wheels imo.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

I think like most things it depends on what they are on. These wheels are going on my black panel truck...personally I really dig em.

My 71 K20 had these on em when I got it. I didnt care for em at all.

Now it has these and I like em as much as the black ones for my panel.

Sorry bout the big pictures for those that dont like em, but ever since I figured out how to host my pictures here and post em up like this...I cant stop

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

it all depends on the wheel, the car, and the look the owner is going for.
For me, most cars that are black with tinted window and minimal traim (or blacked out trim) looks kinda stupid with chrome or polished wheels. Black on black on black on black looks awesome to me.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

My burb came from the factory with black wheels in 1968 just like Mike rig above.

To me I like em, they hide the dirt so I don't have to constantly wipe them down. Though I am picky about what they look good on, mainly new trucks for the most part. Although, if that new truck is a off road truck and gets beat up they look ok with steel black wheels intended for abuse.

Newer high performance cars that are blacked out, look great to me since they give a sinister look to the car.

For example - Black Corvette Z/06

My beater 4x4's have/had black wheels, it adds to the "stay away from me in the parking lot" feel. That or the tree creases in the door...

A blacked out vehicle is cool to me, car or truck.

I am NOT a fan of black wheels. Steel wheels can be OK on the right vehicle, but to me, black aluminum wheels look like they are covered in brake dust.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

the spare rim look is peoples (tuners) answer to not having enough money to get nicer rims.

the "texas eddition" 20's.. those are a joke.. (my opinion)
but persons with 24's and 26's make me cringe.. how about feed yoru children instead of destroying your ball joints?.. and yes i can work on cars.. and NO i wont fix yours.... hehehe

the WORST part is the new "dubs brand cars" where dude do mcdonalds, swisher sweets, nike themed cars... that's retarded... (in my opinion)

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

im all for a car or truck that has been murdered out because they look sick indeed. now im not a fan of the lil ricers that remove their hubcaps and roll on the stock black rims cause it supposely gives them more of a racer look

It's mine. Picked it up for a song and thought i would play with it for a while. Never even been in one of these til I bought this one. They handle and accelerate far better than they appear they would.

Gotta love the Brits.

Black steelies on a Civic look lame, but I like black wheels like on that Vette. "You can look badass as long as you can back it up...", I think that was a John Denver song.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

I don't like them at all. IMHO, it is not about the way they "fit" the car, it's the fact that they "disappear" into the tires. One big ugly blob. I like to see the seperation between the tire and wheel.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

It looks good on some cars when matched with other blacked out emblems or key parts of the car(thought out not just rattle can your wheels). I did it to my is300

It was done cause the price was right also.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

I rocked wagon wheels for like 10 years, and that wasn't that long ago. I'm not really one to judge cool

If I had an all black vehicle, I would consider black rims, or maybe even a deep/dark color like red would look cool with black rims too.

There's a new challenger running around in my area that's completely blacked out, rims and all, and it appears to have been lowered as well, it looks friggin' killer.

Ok i just bought some old 67 rims with the riveted center cap clips. The black wheels on top... is that an example of the hubcap that goes on that style wheel? And do they make those for a 4x4 application?

Secondly, i love the white wheel look, and am thinking of going with that look for my 84 blazer with the 67 wheels. Where do you get some decent hubcaps like the ones you have on the white wheels?

Laslty, i love the green truck!!! One of these days i hope to roll one just like it.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

but you at least have some chrome to make it look nice. I am not opposed to any black, just the all black. I think the guy earlier said it right, they just blend into the tires and make a non issue of what i consider to be the coolest part of any truck.

I can't say that I hate black wheels.I do think (my own opinion) that the color black is over done to the point I will not paint one that color. My Oldest boys truck is blacked out even further than this pic shows.

Not a HUGE fan of black wheels, but I don't hate them. Here is my 77...first time I have ever run black wheels. I think if they are well done or PC'd, they look good...rattle can, not so much.

Re: Anyone else HATE black wheels?

I don't mind the monotone black look, but I don't care for the "murdered out" craze. I agree with those that feel there can be too much black.

Ironically I had to temporarily put a set of black wheels on my wife's Denali a few months. She hated it, but within one evening I had three different people give compliments on how great they looked.

I will say I will take the black wheel trend over spinners and floaters any day.
