Other hidden VIN's

Are there any other hidden VIN numbers on square bodies beside the one on the frame and drive train?

I know my Camaro has five that are not on the drive train but don't know of any on the truck.

Re: Other hidden VIN's

No.

I have a fuzzy recollection about maybe one near the heater box opening - but I think I am confusing that with a different program.

I'm going to stick with "no" unless someone else has something more conclusive.

Re: Other hidden VIN's

The reason I am asking is because I picked up a parts truck that was factory A/C and I am considering cutting off the firewall section that is different than a heater only truck and transferring it to my 78 when I tear it down for restoration.

Just didn't want to end up with conflicting VIN numbers on my truck.

I will look closely at the cowl area of both and see if it perhaps is one of the cowl stamped rigs.

Re: Other hidden VIN's

I sandblasted the frame of a 76 Chevy Short Stepside. The vin was embossed into the frame in at least 4 places. At least two of them were on top of the rail making the VIN not visible unless the cab and bed were removed. I can't remember the exact location of the others, just that I was surprised to keep uncovering more of them.

I've always heard horror stories about having mismatched vins on car parts, but I personally have never had the DMV people look at anything but the tag in the door frame or the dash.
