brake question
my truck kinda hops when i apply the brake ..... i thought maybe 1 of my rotors needed resurfacing ....but they look good
any suggestions ??? |

you could have a warped rotor or drum, that would be something you would feel as a pulsing of the brake peddle, & will also feel like a shake, or vibration when the brakes are applied. good luck, crazyL

the best thing to do is have both rotors turned and replace brake pads, rotor warpage is not something that you can see with your eyes and once the brake pads get a certain wear pattern they keep that pattern so change the pads to

Are you sure it's the front brakes and not the back? Sometimes a combination of a leaky wheel cylinder and loose spring bushings will make it hop irratically when the brakes are hit hard.
FYI to all Harbor Freight has Indicators and Magnetic Bases on sale from time to time in their catalogs. 1" Travel .001 Dial Indicator on sale for $6.49 Magnetic base for Travel Indicator on sale for $6.99 The indicators are accurate and the mag base is identical to the one I just paid $22.00 for thru MSC. A mag base and travel indicator is a great thing to have in any tool box.

im not sure if its front or back or a combination like you suggested .... i did try only braking with my parking brake which i know only applies the rear drums .... i didn't notice any pulsating or hoppin.... is this a good way to troubleshoot the problem or is there something im not aware of ....
