That get done quite a bit in the street rod world. I opted to go with a Corvette C4 rearend. The only down side to the Jag is trying to gear it and if you happen to break a u-joint or driveshaft you lose your brakes.

I also considered it as well, I have one in the backyard sitting and getting rained on. If you were to do it, you would most likely want to mount it without the cage and fabricate your own mounting system for the differential via some sort of crossmember. I was going to mount mine in the cage to keep the geometry but then I was gona have to notch the frame to conform to the jag housing, didn't want to do it. Plus parts are hard to come by and expensive $$$. To make it functional you would also want to keep the trailing arms that are attatched (which most street rodders get rid of). Check out posts by member (Dan in Pasadena) he has one mounted in its cage in his '46 pick up.

I considered using the IRS as am using the front in my 57 and bought the front and rear axles as a pair. Considered using the de-caged option trouble was just too expensive a option for me so going to use a 8.8 axle as picked one up for peanuts. I had jag front and rear in a 66 C10 and it drove really well, and handled too , the rear was in it's cage and the truck was low, haven't got any pictures (sorry) , Here's a link to a company here in England that do mountings and all the straps etc to take one out of it's cage , send him an email -he's usually very helpful

I bought their complete kit to mount a '73 IRS in my '57 several years ago. The truck went to the shop last week to get it and a 78 front clip from a Camaro installed. I looked up CWI and I can't find them any longer. Their website doesn't work. A quick search shows they moved out of WA state. Their product was top notch though and they had everything needed.
