i must admit that i felt similair about the classifieds part. i am on no less then 50 forums and this is the only one with these rules.

However it is not overun with vendors and sales adds. i contributed once to test the waters.

Re: Looking for a couple of parts!

I'm kinda new to this forum and not yet a paying member, but visit plenty of similar sites (cars, tech, woordworking, etc.) that charge a small fee for special rights. It seems perfectly reasonable to charge a small fee. I mean, you think bandwidth, server space, and all that happen for free?

Re: Looking for a couple of parts!

Seriously, charging to post a wanted ad is the perfect way to drive users away. I didn't sign up here to pay to look at shaved door handles and bling rims. I use my pickup as a pickup and usually have to work for my money. I'm all set with giving it away. You get companies to pay to advertise and pay for the site, not the people you want to use and promote your site.

Re: Looking for a couple of parts!

no, not drive people away, but keep the site un-cluttered.. free posting is what craigslist.com is for...

It's the minority of paying subscribers that make it free for the majority of users here. Those that pay get some benefits. Those that do not subscribe benefit from the wealth of information of over 50k members. I don't think anyone will be bailing out because you did not read the rules.

Re: Looking for a couple of parts!

MalibuSleeper, Please forward your comments to Liz or Josh the site administrators. This thread is now closed . This site is an inspiration and a great source of information to many and those of us who work hard to make this site all it can be, and its members feel that the fees charged to be a subscribing member are well worth it. If you cant see your way clear to subscribe, then dont, but the comments made in this thread are neither appreciated , or in good taste. You are not forced to subscribe, however you ARE forced to adhere to the rules as set forth by site administration, Please review them again.
