Brought the old girl home...

Well this one has been guite a few years in the making,
I have always loved the old blazers, and 5 maybe 6 years ago i had the oppertunity to purchase this one, a 1972 K5 CST 4 speed, w/ a 327, i know "not original" anyway i bought it with big plans of a complete frame off build, i started to tare into it by myself, And well, long story short, met my wife, had some kids, built a house, You do the math,

So She's been parked behind my folks shop since then, Now quite a few years later i'm looking for a project for me and my oldest son to work on together, I Just about forgot that i even had the old blazer,
So i picked up a 1950 Willys cj3a for a build project, Well after some thought we decided the old willys just wasn't big enogh for what we wanted,
(Light bulb), Hey i have this old blazer up at grandpa & grandmas, so we jump in the truck and we were off to get the blazer, a little gas & a new battery and now we have our project sittin in our driveway, And hopefully soon enough this will turn into a build thread...

A blazer is a much better project than a willys. Do you have the doors, top, etc?

Yeah, The drivers door i took off to re-skin, and i have a single wall in close to mint condition,

Yeah i really need to pull the trigger on witch parts suppiler i'm goin with, Think i'm leaning twards Pauls, sounds like they have pretty heavy patch panels,

Probably gonna tackle most of the body work while it's still on the frame, so we can still putt around in it, and save the heavy stuff for winter, ever since we brought it home all the kids want to do is go for rides around the neighberhood in it, so if i tore it down to far i might have a mutiny on my hands,

I was thinking this very same thing! I forget a lot of stuff... milk, bread, anything work related... but I NEVER forget about my cars! Hell, I even got the VIN's of a couple of them memorized and I haven't had those cars for 15 years!

Yeah it sounds bad, But when you live a life as busy as mine, you tend to forget alot of stuff, I have 5 kids 4 of them in baseball right now, Oldest boy just got drafted to the majors, we've got 6 rigs, and a fully custom Harley that i have 40k wrapped up in that i built, i just built a 5 bedroom 4 bath 3300 sq ft home , and when i say built i don't mean payed to have built, i built it from the ground up, So yeah i forget some stuff..

Yes my boy is jacked about the blazer, He wants it done right now,


Plans? Well i guess i can always come back to this and change it later, Right?
Build Plans never seem to stay the same, so i guess my plans from this point are, just a mild resto mod i guess,

Frame off, blasted & powder coated all new poly mounts

While it's off the frame, color change to either hugger or lambo Orange

4 inch spring lift w/ 33s or 35s not sure yet

probably gonna stick with the 327, maybe freshen it up a little

I can't decide on carpet or rhino for the complete interior

after market seats

Probably a custom roll cage

the carpet is just going to retain water and cause rust down the road. i would go with the rhino line
