Are wheels on chevy trucks hub or lug centric? I would assume lug because of the tapered seat. The inside bore diameter is about 1/2" larger overall than the hub on my new (to me)wheels.

The OEM wheels were hub centric. Most aftermarket wheels are lug centric.

Hub centric would mean that the diameters would be very close to one another? How much clearance would they have? I assume hub centric would be stronger but is it neccessary? Or are wheel manufactures lazy and dont want to offer as many wheels?

Not sure of the clearances, but yes, they would be minimal -- and while stronger (in theory), it doesn't seem to be a necessity on these trucks. My truck has had lug-centric wheels for three decades with no problems.

I'm not sure 'lazy' is the correct word. It would be economically unfeasible to offer vehicle-specific aftermarket wheels unless it were absolutely necessary.

My SRW Alcoas are lug-centric. My DRW Alcoas are hub-centric. Mostly because of how duallys mount the wheels, so they are not lazy. They are trying to make a sufficient product at the correct price point. OEM buy such large quantities that whatever spec they choose can be done for whatever they will pay.
