Re: bolt on c-notch/flip kit ?
Just doing a flip you won't need the notch, Probably why it was never used before. Now if you go lower with drop shackles you will need to add the notch. It all depends on how low you want to go.
As far as U-bolts, You should be able to re-use the old/same ones....

Re: bolt on c-notch/flip kit ?
you will need a notch, unless, you like the idea of your frame hitting your axle and not being able to haul stuff in your bed.

Re: bolt on c-notch/flip kit ?
Do the c notch you will eventually go lower. I do agree you can reuse your oem u bolts. Remove the bed, all you need is a grinder with a metal cutoff wheel to cut the frame for the cnotch and a really good drillbit. Fom what I remember its 8 holes on the side and 4 ontop on each cnotch. Your looking at 24 holes. Id recommend 1/2 Ridgid drillbit, go slow through the frame and keep the bit moist with wd40. The bit will be around 17bucks at HD.
All in all good times hehe. Oh and btw support your frame with jackstands behind the cab and right behind your axle because you don't want to compromise the strength of your frame when you cut out the C. Do one c section at a time donot cut both rails at ones and then bolt up the c section, just safer that way. Instal your flipkit first so you know exactly where the cnotch needs to be bolted up. |

Re: bolt on c-notch/flip kit ?
This will help you...
http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/chas...n/csection.htm I am going to disagree with the others. I like to replace the u-bolts with new ones, especially if they are the original ones to the truck. They are pretty inexpensive, and will be in better shape and stronger than your old, rusted or stretched out ones. Not only that, but getting the bolts out can be a major PITA...when a cut-off wheel will make real quick work of them.

Oh, I think the u-bolts are 9/16" thread, 3" round. Take one off your truck, go to the parts store and compare.
