Re: bed covers, who, what, where, how....pics please

im trying to find time to make mine... I made one for my 01 silverado stepside and it turned out awesome. Simple too, 1x2 wood frame, support in the middle, thin wood pressboard, some padding material and some marine grade vinyl. Ive got the material to do my 87 fleet side, but I always seem to do other stuff.. hopefully this weekend I can find some time.

You guys got any ideas on how to make it waterproof, as in keeping water out of the bed?

with a home made cover you could make it flush mount just inside the bed rails then run a rubber seal along the rail. would be lil harder to push down to close but would keep the water out

Here's a paste of a post I made 1 1/2 months ago;

Extang has them for long and short 73/87's, I bought their Tuff Tonno Snapless Style for my 97 and luv it. No matter what brand you end up purchasing invest in Extang's Tonno Tonic to keep it looking good, It's much much better than Armorall and won't run down the paint/streak when it gets wet.

I found out the hard way, Got in a little drizzle going to a show, When I got there I had to wipe down my whole bed and re-wax. Not something you want to deal with at a show.

HERE'S where I bought it.

Pics are in my sig below......

I have a Gaylord's X2000 on my S10. Only cost an extra $170 to get it painted to match. I couldn't buy paint and materials for that cheap. Pics in link of signature...

When I was ready to buy mine I spent a few hours on-line looking for the best price (we're all on a budget right ?), That place was the best and shipping was pretty quick as well.....

Re: bed covers, who, what, where, how....pics please

i want to make a flush mount to sit inside the bed rails but the ones i do find sit about 3/4" above the bedsides which i think will look too weird.

thats what i liked about the checker pro tonneau cover, it actually sit "in" the bed, and was flush across

Re: bed covers, who, what, where, how....pics please

yeah i like the way the checkmate fits the only thing i would like is one that will roll up and also fit like that. am i asking for to much? Thats why i was considering making one to just use temporarily till i find what i want i would hate to spend 400+ and not get exactly what i want, i saw on their website they make a tonneau but it doesnt show a picture.
