Old School Tires 295/50 15 Rears. What For Fronts?

I'm going old school for my 87 silverado longbox. I picked up a set of E/T Slots... 7.5"x 15 fronts and 10"x15 rears. I want to run 295/50/15s on the back but what do I need for the fronts?...Does anyone remeber what they used to run before the big wheel craze...Thanks

Re: Old School Tires 295/50 15 Rears. What For Fronts?

Yo! Old school,...that'd be me!
We always used to run one series higher tires in front than in the rear,...so an appropriately wide 60 series would be the "old school" look. My '76 Camaro sports 295/50/15's rear, and 215/60/15's front. You'll probably want a tire wider than 215 for the front of your truck, however. Have fun!
Todd.

I'd say 215/60 in front I run a 215 with no problems

225/60 is my vote, 235 starts to look just a touch on the tall side.

Re: Old School Tires 295/50 15 Rears. What For Fronts?

I ran that combo on my 69 stepper back in the day. I had the 295's in the back and I think I ran 245/60's in the front. I wanted more tire in the front because it was my DD and I needed to drive it in Illinois winters.

X2

I run BFG Radial T/A 295/50/15 back and 245/60/15 in front because they are basically the same profile height.

Re: Old School Tires 295/50 15 Rears. What For Fronts?

I have run the 295/50/15s on the back of a couple trucks. I put 245/60/15s on the front, since they are the same diameter as the 295 tires. I had to go to the Cooper tire line to get the 295s the last time, since BFG is closing out the sizes like that.
